Weather in Venezuela

Venezuela receives millions of tourists all year round and has a glowing reputation as an all year round destination. The country is located in the tropics but has generally two seasons. A dry season lasts from November to May and the wet season from May to November. Lowland areas below 800 meters typically have a tropical climate ranging between 26-28° C while temperatures in the mountains can average just 8 ° C all year round. Pack a sweater and a coat if you are planning any time in the mountains. In the wet season areas may be risk at flooding. This being said a visit to Angel Falls, Salto Ángel, is best in the wet season after heavy rains. During the dry season the falls may not be much more than a thin ribbon of water and inaccessible by boat in the dry season.

If you are travelling to the nation's capital Caracas, be careful of electrical storms which are frequent between June and October. Dense fog may be common within the city due in part to the high levels of pollution and the city's location in a valley. During the winter months of December and January, the temperature in Venezuela can fall to below 07 °C during the night, referred to the locals as "Pacheco". In contrast, the summer months are hot in the capital with the temperature a constant daily 25 °C.
